The original Inuyama Festival has been held in spring for over 350 years. It takes place over the first weekend in April. Thirteen three-tiered floats, each representing one of the castle towns, carry musicians playing traditional flutes and drums, and puppeteers with traditional Japanese puppets. At nightfall, each float is lit-up by 365 lanterns for the night parade. Re-enactments with costumed warriors are also performed. The spring festival is now repeated in summer, and with only 6 floats, in Autumn. The floats can be seen all year round, in a museum (Donden Kan) near Inuyama Castle.
