The Center for International Collaboration and Advanced Studies in Primatology (CICASP) is located in the city of Inuyama (犬山) in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, and is part of Kyoto University's Center for the Evolutionary Origins of Human Behavior (EHUB). Inuyama Campus is also home to some of the faculty members affiliated with the Wildlife Research Center and the Kyoto University Museum (both headquartered in Kyoto), as well as the Center for Ecological Research (headquartered in Otsu).
Trains run regularly from the airport to Inuyama. Buy your ticket to "Inuyama". We recommend that you catch the Meitetsu μSKY Limited Express train that leaves once every hour and takes 58 minutes to reach Inuyama. On this train you get a reserved seat, which is especially good when you have arrived tired with luggage, or at a busy time when you might be forced to stand for the entire trip. Moreover, all the train stops on this train are announced in English. The platform information is in English - look for the sign. Make sure you get off at Inuyama station (not Inuyama-yuen or Inuyama-guchi).
Follow the signs to Meitetsu Nagoya station and buy a ticket from the machine. Go to platform 1. In addition to televisions that show the coming trains (trains to Inuyama are always boxed in green), there are colour-coded signs above the track. Find the green one that says Inuyama and line up in front of it, in a lane marked by green tapes on the floor. When the light on this sign flashes, the next train is going to Inuyama. Please note that there are also reserved seat trains (μSKY Limited Express) that require you pay a surcharge.
If someone will pick you up at the train station, make sure to mention in which exit you will be waiting (our institution is on the east exit side). If being met is not possible, you can catch a taxi across the road from the station's east exit (in front of Yoshizuya shopping center) and show them Inuyama Campus's name in Japanese (京都大学犬山キャンパス). Try to avoid saying "monkey", since they will think you want to go to the nearby Japan Monkey Park or Japan Monkey Centre. Instead, you can say "Kyoto Daigaku" which means Kyoto University. It takes about 5 minutes to get to our campus by taxi. Otherwise, it is a minimum of 20 minute walk from the train station, with a steep hill to climb at the end; as such, we do *not* recommended that you walk to our campus on your first visit, particularly when it is hot.
