The start of a new academic year here in Japan has brought with it a few changes around Kyoto University's Primate Research Institute and CICASP. Long-time CICASP Assistant Professor (2010-2017) Ikuma Adachi has been promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Cognitive Science's Seciton of Language and Intelligence. Ikuma's tireless efforts in our little international center will be greatly missed, but we wish him all the best in his future career, which begins literally next door. CICASP will begin its search for a replacement in the coming months, so stay tuned for more on that...
At the same time, and perhaps fitting as fate would have it, Andrew MacIntosh was also promoted to the rank of tenured Associate Professor with CICASP. Andrew has worked in CICASP since 2011, as a postdoc (2011-2012), assistant professor (2012-2014), program-specific associate professor (2014-2017), and he will now call CICASP his official home away from home indefinitely.
With the good comes the inevitable ... not so good. CICASP was sad to say farewell to retiring Professor Fred Bercovitch at the end of March. His pioneering work in and for the center will leave a void not soon to be filled.
