This year's most-cited paper award for the journal Primates went to CICASP's own Dr. Andrew MacIntosh for his work on the epidemiology of parasite infection in wild Japanese macaques in collaboration with Dr. Michael Huffman of the Primate Research Institute and Dr. Alexander Hernandez of Rutgers. The paper, which can be found here, offers hypotheses to explain observed age- and sex-biases in infection in a seasonal environment, as well as variation in infection across parasite species.
The most-cited paper award is given to the paper published in the journal which accrued the largest number of citations in the 2 years about which it was published, with this year's award including the years 2010 and 2011. The award is given annually by the Primate Society of Japan, the Japan Monkey Center, and the journal's publisher, Springer.
