Have you been surprised by cross-cultural differences in academic environments, whether it is about how lab members communicate with one another, how students are expected to behave, or how academic institutions operate? Cross-cultural conflicts—as well as enlightenment—can arise among scientists with different backgrounds, especially when working internationally.
In this seminar, we want to hear your experiences (to be shared openly or anonymously), find out what you wish you had known before joining our graduate program or research groups, and discuss ways in which our institutions and communities can help individuals navigate multicultural landscapes in academia.
