A one-week survey in Perlis State Park in by mammal expert Dr Shahrul Anuar (Universiti Sains Malaysia) and CICASP bat researcher Dr David Hill has turned up a new species for Malaysia.
Dobson's horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus yunanensis) had previously been recorded in southern China, Myanmar and Thailand, but never in Malaysia. Although the bat diversity of Peninsular Malaysia is one of the highest recorded in South East Asia, with at least 118 species (Kingston, 2012), the list continues to grow!
